HEALTH AND SAFETY FIRM TURNS 25 AND LOOKS BACK ON ITS HISTORY
The idea for a company came to Greg Kirkman in February 1995. The idea was for a consultancy that could be a one-stop-shop for all health and safety, and associated risks. Having contacted two former colleagues, his front room became the first office, where the name, Ensafe, was chosen, and the operating procedures were developed. The concept from the beginning,
was always to act as a gatekeeper for all clients’ compliance needs for asbestos surveying, sampling, and project management of contractors.
Having spent two weeks in
Greg’s front room, the first proper office was for one month at Moulton Park, Northampton, until moving into two rooms on the ground floor of the office extension, along Lady’s Lane, Northampton. The business grew there, not only
expanding the offices to take over both floors, and growing from three to over 50 staff, but had added a Health and Safety and Compliance division, by the time we moved to our next premises in 2011. In Blisworth, the firm grew to over 100 staff, and expanded to
include Legionella, Fire Risk Assessment, and Compliance. 2018-2019 also saw an exciting
period of growth for Ensafe, with a new subsidiary in the Republic of Ireland, a regional office opening in Yorkshire, the Head Office move to Daventry, and the acquisition of a company to expand our services into Geo-Environmental, Geo Technical, Air and Acoustic testing, and Ecology, with over 200 staff to deliver these services.
