Falkland Dairy volume buyer at Holstein sale Thirty-two animals sold for an average of $2,600

down slightly from last year at the North Okanagan Holstein Club fall sale in Armstrong, October 9. Bidding was a bit slow throughout


the evening as sale chair Jim McAvoy read pedigrees next to auctioneer Don Raffan. Thirty-two animals sold, with the


average price close to $2,600. A one-year-old heifer, Sunnyhome


Crisp Rickards Red, consigned by Sunnyhome Farms Ltd., pulled in the top price of $5,300 paid by Chris Lindhout of Westcoast Holsteins in Chilliwack. Sunny Vale Farm purchased the next highest seller, Bonavista Missle Moon, a yearling consigned by Salmon Arm’s Bonavista Farms. She sold for $4,800. Rounding out the top three sellers was Renowned Alonzo Pamela, a three- year-old 2019 Interior Provincial Exhibition champion consigned by Dari Delite Farm Ltd., that sold to Falkland Dairy for $4,100.


The sale included heifers, yearlings,


proven milkers, bred cows, and calves. Some calves went for less than $1,000 but one born in April went for the high price of $2,900. A March-born calf and another born in July each sold for $1,600. Falkland Dairy, owned by Samantha


and Blake Lechkobit, was the volume buyer of the sale with seven purchases.
