Branches welcome their new offi ce bearers


New offi ce bearers have been elected at the four SELECT Branch Updates and AGMs that went ahead before the coronavirus shutdown. Craig McGowan was voted in as new Chair of


the Lanarkshire Branch, taking over from current SELECT Vice-President Donald W Orr. Paul Smith was elected as Vice-Chair and Chris Liddell as third representative during the update and AGM at Hamilton Park Racecourse on 10 March. At the Edinburgh and South East of Scotland


Branch Update and AGM at the Buccleuch Arms in St Boswells on 3 March, Graeme Anderson remained as Chair, with Paul Erasmuson becoming the new Vice-Chair. Alistair Noble stayed as third representative and Craig Neish was added as fourth representative. T e Inverness and North of Scotland Branch

SELECT: More should be done to inspire the next generation of female electricians


SELECT has joined with other respected industry bodies to hail a rise in female apprentices and say more should be done to encourage other young women to pick up the tools. Along with the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB), the


Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT) and Unite the Union, SELECT welcomed new fi gures which showed that 13 female apprentices applied to be electricians in 2019-2020, compared to seven in 2018-2019.
