said: “As installations become more complex it’s important that we have the correct level of knowledge to allow projects to be completed to the client’s satisfaction fi rst time. We have a high retention rate of apprentices post- FICA, so it’s paid off to invest in them as we’ve been able to mould them to suit changing market technologies.” McCann now plans to open a connected lighting training academy in its offi ces to support the transfer of knowledge from industry experts to new apprentices and paying delegates.

Selkirk by Conservative MSP Rachel Hamilton and a trip to SPIE in Edinburgh by MSP politician Clare Haughey, Minister for Mental Health. Labour MSP Colin Smyth met the team at Lotus Electrical Services Ltd in Dumfries, while the SNP’s Joan McAlpine chatted to youngsters during her visit to Derek Mitchell Electrical Ltd, also in Dumfries. And fi nally, SNP MP Alyn Smith and SNP MSP Bruce Crawford spoke with fi rst stage apprentices Scott Walker, Ryan Morrison, Adam Mullin and Lorne McCulloch as they were treated to a tour of building services group FES in Stirling.
