Until the coronavirus halted us in our tracks in mid-March, our staff had again been busy since the start of February, travelling far and wide on Members’ behalf. Here are some highlights…


AT SELECT HQ


e Membership Manager Sandra Bennett, Training Administrator Laurie Burns, Technical Administrator Susie Liddle and Employment Aff airs Administrators Nicky Deighan and Nicola Walker attended T e Electrical Site Safety Assessment course at T e Walled Garden on 11 February.


r Specifi er and Client Relations Manager Yvonne Wilson and Technical Adviser Stuart McKelvie attended a Local Authority Forum on 12 February in which Mark Wilson from Intelligent Land Investments Group delivered a presentation on pump hydro storage and Ryan Robertson from East Lothian Road Services discussed EV infrastructure.

attended a Local Authority Engineers Forum on 26 February that included a presentation on low carbon applications by Alistair Roberts of iPpower Energy Ltd.


u Director of Employment and Skills Fiona Harper attended a meeting of Skills Development Scotland and SECTT at T e Walled Garden on 17 February. Fiona also attended a SECTT Trustees meeting and the SJIB National Board at SELECT HQ on 4 and 11 March respectively.


i Training and Development Adviser Malcolm Duncan delivered emergency lighting in-house training for operatives and supervisors from Fife Council on 20 February. T is was followed by an emergency lighting awareness seminar for operatives and supervisors from the University of Edinburgh on 5 March.

ARGYLL AND BUTE Technical Adviser Darren Sweeney carried out a technical assessment at Mull of Kintyre lighthouse in Argyll and Bute on 4 February. Read the diary of his journey in the next issue of CABLEtalk.


BLANTYRE Director of Technical Services Dave Forrester was at a Building Standards compliance workshop at the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) in Blantyre on 27 February. Managing Director Alan Wilson and Director of Employment and Skills Fiona Harper also met with CSIC Chief Executive Stephen Good at the centre on 21 February.


IRVINE, 12 MARCH


GLASGOW Director of Employment and Skills Fiona Harper represented SELECT at the fi rst meeting of the Fair Work Convention, Construction Industry Inquiry Group in Glasgow on 12 March.


EAST KILBRIDE Training and Development Adviser Malcolm Duncan delivered training in emergency lighting systems in East Kilbride on 11 March.


CAMBUSLANG Technical Adviser Stuart McKelvie delivered the two-day Customised Award in Inspection and Testing at the SECTT Assessment Centre in Cambuslang on 10 and 11 March.
