Baby recovers after house fire
A BABY girl was injured when a family home in Mereworth went up in flames. Emergency services were called
to the house in The Street in the early hours of Sunday, February 23. Fire crews tackled the blaze for nearly five hours. A GoFundMe page was set up
by family members who say the home has been wrecked by the mystery blaze, believed to have started in a first-floor bedroom. Organiser Kris Hodges wrote:
“Everyone, including the baby and the two cats, survived which we are all beyond grateful and blessed to be able to say. The fire has, however, taken with it abso- lutely all belongings, clothes and sentimental items which will never be able to be replaced.” A Kent Fire and Rescue
spokesman said: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two main jets, two hose reel jets and water from a hydrant to tackle the blaze on the first floor, which had spread into the roof space. “One adult suffering burns, and
two adults and a child suffering the effects of smoke inhalation, were outside the house on arrival and were handed into the care of SECAmb paramedics. “Firefighters managed to rescue two cats from the property. ” Mr Hodges added: “The little
one is now chuckling away bliss- fully unaware that any of it hap- pened. She has certainly kept us more than entertained and in high spirits.” To make a donation, visit

Where there’s a Will there’s a way
Your Will can be a very powerful tool to help your loved ones. It can:
• Ensure your assets are left to the people you choose
• Protect your family - appoint guardians for your children
• Save your family tax • Give you peace of mind, a very valuable commodity
Just as you take expert advice when buying a new house or investment plan, it’s even more important to take expert advice regarding your Will.
If you don’t have a Will – now is the time to discuss your wishes. If you have a Will – does it still reflect your wishes and in a tax efficient way?
