Meet the Zebra Products Team: Phil Lowe, Saddle Sales Specialist

Loughborough in Leicestershire. Covering all of the UK and Ireland in his role as Saddle Sales Specialist, Phil has a wealth of knowledge and expertise making him an excel- lent representative for Amerigo and Equipe saddles.

P

Growing up in rural Worcestershire, Phil is from a farming background and horses were part of his life from a young age, this passion for all things equestrian led him to eventually combining his hobby with work.

When Phil was six years old, he was the proud owner of a pony called Rainbow. The pair had lots of fun together and turned their hand and hoof to almost anything. When Phil outgrew Rainbow he didn’t replace him and it wasn’t until Phil was in his 30’s that he bought his own horse following a great riding holiday which brought the equestrian bug back!

Said Phil: “When I leſt school I went to agricultural college as I intended to work in agriculture as I loved animals. However, in my mid-twenties I decided this wasn’t going to be my forever career and went into agricultural feed sales and nutrition instead. “I still had my love for being around animals though so bought my horse Harvey as a five-year-old. That was 15 years ago and in that time we have done all sorts together, including hunting, eventing, jumping and riding club stuff.

Phil worked in agricultural feed sales happily for a long time until moving into equestrian sales and arriving at Zebra Products in 2011. He went through various ups and downs in agricultural feed sales and a declining industry prompted Phil to apply for the role at Zebra. When Phil saw an advert for a German brand looking for sales people he thought ‘let’s combine my job with my hobby in what is a growing industry’. The rest is history as they say and Phil hasn’t looked back.

Said Phil: “The best thing about my job is making a difference to how a horse and rider perform with our saddles. Being at London 2012 and watching the dressage to

music when Charlotte won the gold medal has to be one of the most memorable moments in my career. Getting our first trade stand at Badminton Horse trials was pretty good too.

“In my role as Saddle Sales Specialist I sell saddles and related products to saddle fitters but it is also very hands on; I could be in a shop, at a yard doing fitting training with a retailer helping them with tricky fits and product knowledge, or at one of our sponsored

riders’ yards looking aſter their saddle needs. All of the Amerigo and Equipe riders are fantastic and I love to know that I’ve played a small part in their success.

“My favourite Equipe was my Viktoria dressage saddle I used on Harvey; it made such a difference to him and all the other horses I see with it. My favourite Amerigo product has to be the new HC Jump Saddle (Harvey was in a CC Basso) it has really made a difference in fitting the modern sports horse.”

The brands high quality, refined materials and tailoring manufacture are the main values that have been guiding the Amerigo brand, since its foundation in 1998.

Well known for their technical values over the last 21 years, Amerigo saddles are considered a ‘must-have’ for riders and horses looking to perform at their best, with elite athletic performance.
