Welcome to the latest issue of Welcome

Have you seen the Calne Clean Up Crew out and about and enjoyed the benefit of all their hard work? In this issue we catch up with Catherine Crofts, who started the group in 2018, to find out more and share how you can get involved and help the town stay cleaner and brighter.

With flowers, blossom, buds and greening of trees thoughts are turning to the garden and the slowly warming soil, if you are busy planting seeds you might want to read about this year’s National Gardening Week at the end of the month. The theme is seeds of a different type – ‘Sowing Seeds of Friendship’ and making everyone aware of the difference that gardens and gardening can make to lives. Gardening can be a very sociable activity from garden visits to clubs and societies or even joining one of the ‘Clean Up Gangs’ that work so hard across our towns helping keep them look beautiful. Check out our ‘What’s On Guide’ for gardening events and open gardens under the National Garden Scheme.

Anyone with a car will be well aware of the damage that this winter has done to many of our local roads. If your car is feeling slightly the worse for wear, or your tyres have taken the brunt of the pot holes, it is nice to know that there is a local business in the town which is here to help. Turn to page 12 to find out more about Cross Country Tyres and Garage Services. Although based on Porte Marsh, they also offer a mobile tyre fitting service.
