Our March cover highlights International Womans Day and as a natural extension of this the second Asian Woman Festival, an event that celebrates what it is to be an Asian woman and aims to smash stereotypes led by their inspirational founder Shani Dhanda, which has this year landed major backing of Birmingham’s leading property group Love Your Postcode, run by Bobby Singh. Esq, read more about the event on pages 2 and 3 of this Issue. www.loveyourpostcode.com

March brings madness of the nicest possible kind – St Patrick's Day! As a former Irish Dancer, winner of three World Champion Irish Dance Drama titles and having had my own TV show on Irish TV, you can imagine how important this day has been to me over the years. In my youth I spent the 17th March traipsing from one event to the next with fellow dancers putting on shows; after hanging up my shoes (do you ever really hang up your shoes as an Irish dancer?) it became a night of frivolity and still showing off my talents impromptu style, usually after a tipple or two. Of course I have to be careful these days, as once you hit 40 plus, the muscles aren’t what they used to be...despite the spirit being still willing!

March also plays host to Mother's Day; a day when we celebrate the most important woman in our lives, our mum. I've given up buying my mum gifts, I now only buy her experiences to create cherished memories – in fact that's the rule now for many people in my life. In this issue we have a great mixture of gifts (as let’s face it, mum’s still do like to open something) and foodie and spa experiences you might want to consider if needing a little inspiration.

March is also an important month for updating our wardrobe as we add some key pieces from new season trends into the mix. I have my eye on some fab pastel pieces to break up the black I've been wearing – or rather has been wearing me! In saying that, black and white are also hot property for SS20 so I'm on-trend already...I also love the new season pouch-like clutches and embellished shoes. A girl can never really go wrong investing in shoes and bags, no matter what stage of the diet you’re at, the shoes and bags work even when the waistline doesn’t!

I must touch on the debate around ‘gossip magazines’ thank goodness we’re not classed as one! There’s nothing but positivity in our titles and that’s the way it’s staying. I can totally understand hairdressers and beauty clinics ditching gossip-type magazines, you never could trust the content in them anyway. Our magazines have always been about the quality that exists across the area, drawing out the good news, celebrating the wins and highlighting the best of each lifestyle topic that you may want to tap into.

Enjoy reading my interview with Jamie Cullum that features this month, he sounds lovely even when he's not singing. So, happy St Patrick’s Day, happy Mother’s Day to my gorgeous mum and hello Spring…

Much love, Katie & team xxxx www.live24-seven.com
