Whilst viewing the stunning and eclectic art on show at Nova Fine Art, Oliver Deeley, Nova's Director shared with Live 24-Seven his thoughts on art and how it reaches us as individuals.

"I’m often struck by the parallels that exist between fragrance and fine art. I realise that might sound a little strange but bear with me and I’ll explain." he continued, "For me, finding a perfect piece of artwork is like finding a perfect fragrance. It’s almost always an accidental affair, an unexpected “Oh my goodness!” moment with an immediate and instinctive “click” that feels just right. I suppose it’s a little like falling in love; inexplicable, intoxicating, unexpected and delightful. It’s also truly, personal."


It’s long been known that our sense of smell is closely linked


to memory. Research has shown that when a person smells something that's connected to a meaningful event in their past, they will first have an emotional response to the sensation and then a memory might follow. But sometimes, the memory won't ever resurface; the person might just feel the emotion of something that happened without remembering what they experienced.
