LIVERPOOL:

Top retailer hosts pop-up market

Following the success of recent events in the North West, pop-up market company Curated Makers teamed up with leading British retailer M&S to present a three week pop-up installation in M&S’s Church Street store in Liverpool. The unique concession featured a

selection of locally made, handcrafted goods including artwork, jewellery, Liverpool souvenirs, ceramics, candles and gifts. It was described as a highly curated artisan market situated within a shop

environment, open seven days a week, offering the convenience of shopping small and local on one of the country’s major shopping streets. Curated Makers’ Megan Jones said: “It is a privilege that M&S have embraced our

concept and are welcoming Curated Makers and 40 of our top independent makers into their Liverpool store.”

SHROPSHIRE: Award winning outfit for town crier

A dressmaker in Oswestry’s market hall has helped the new town crier officially become the best dressed in Britain. Alex Jamieson joined town crier, Phil Brown, and Oswestry mayor, Cllr John Price,

to celebrate the recent win, which took place in Newton Abbott in Devon. Ms Jamieson admitted that she was surprised to hear of the award, as she didn’t

even know Mr Brown was competing. “When you make things, you don’t expect to win awards for it,” she said. “The council asked me to do it when they knew they were getting a town crier back.

They came to me because I was in the market, and hopefully they knew I would do a good job. It’s nice to see Phil wearing what I made for him.”

LANCASHIRE: New stalls for popular market

Blackburn Market has recently welcomed four new stalls, following a period earlier this year when the retail hub lost three business in a month. The new stalls are a cheese stall, a vegan

delicatessen, a salad bar, and a home furnishings and bathroom showroom, which join recent arrivals including a Korean takeaway, bespoke home furnishings, a hairdresser and perfumier. The market has recently trialled pop-up stalls and offered low cost stalls to enable people to test a business idea as part of

the Love Your Local Market campaign. Cllr Phil Riley told local media: “This is fantastic news for the market and I’d like to

welcome all of the new traders and wish them the very best. We’re constantly trialling new ways to attract businesses to the busy market and the pop-up stalls have worked well.”

SOMERSET: Steaming to the festive market

The city of Bath is making a trip to its Christmas Market even more special this year with a magical steam train taking visitors into the heart of the iconic city. Bath Christmas Market is one of the most

popular in the UK, and on December 1 travellers will be able to ride all the way to the award-winning market on the Mayflower, one of only two surviving B1 Class steam trains. Introduced in 1948, the Mayflower was

first designed for the London and North Eastern Railway, and was built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow. Set in the historic Roman city, the Christmas Market offers around 150 stalls, from handmade jewellery to homeware and, of course, food and drink.
