fun? We tour quite a lot, so time at home (London) to actually relax is a bit few and far between. Jonny is a full-time dad, and Paddy is a full-time uncle - so there’s also that to work around. In the rare moments we’re not gigging or writing, there’s an enormous amount of darts, pool, table football, table tennis, fruit machines, quizzes, jukeboxes, Guinness and crisps. Those activities may give some hints as to the sort of establishments we tend to hide in. Do you spend all your time together when you’re not the double act that we all know and love? Perhaps unsurprisingly, yes. A bit like having a comfort blanket that makes you laugh.

Or a loving tumour. Do you get nervous before a performance? If so, how do you calm the nerves and centre yourselves? We both have our moments, but we have a rule that only one of us is allowed to show it otherwise we’ll both panic. We’re more professional than we used to be, but you can’t ever really escape that little feeling that this could be the night that it all goes wrong? That’s healthy. Keep a healthy fear of the stage to put alongside the reverence! To calm down Paddy paces a lot and Jonny sits perfectly still. Neither of those things help us but we’re both too stubborn to try literally anything else. How do you deal with hecklers? Have you ever

had anyone be really rude to you while on stage? Tell us the story. We don’t tend to get many hecklers as we’re consistently quite loud onstage, but if we notice one we’re always up for a chat! It’s harder to heckle songs, and if it’s in between songs you can always just... start another song. It’s very rare anything gets really nasty - we don’t think our material attracts that kind of heat. Things have on occasion got weird. Someone rushed the stage to tickle Paddy’s feet once. That’s the calibre of interaction we’re used to dealing with. Have you spent much time in Norwich before? If so, what do you love about our fine city? A lot of time! We’ve got a lot

of friends here, and Paddy has some family that are Norwichian (Norwichers? Norwitches? Actually, on second thought they might be Norwegian) so we visit a fair amount. Our last show here was when the snow from the ‘Beast from the East’ shut down the entirety of the UK for what seemed like the best part of a decade and it was THE BEST. We had to stay in Norwich for a few extra days drinking in the beautiful pubs, eating in the tasteful restaurants, and occasionally seeing Adam Buxton cycling near a river. What’s not to love?
