Parish office Itwas agreed to pursue the purchase of a bungalowin the village, whichwould be converted into a parish office,meeting space and coffee hub.A list of potential propertieswould be drawn up. Football Itwas agreed that the village football teamcould use the football pitch in the sports field. Footpath sign Owing to the cost of replacing a damaged permissive footpath sign, itwas agreed that thewording “permissive footpath” should be inscribed on themetal post. Single-track sign The clerkwas asked to contact Leeds Castle to seek permission to erect a single-track road sign on land at the junction of Broomfield Road and the A20. Finger post Itwas suggested that the village handyman should put concrete spurs on either side of the damaged finger post. Members’ allowances Councillors agreed to ask the staff commi�ee to include an amount in the budget to covermembers allowances. Hitching post The clerkwas asked to liaisewith the village handyman to place a discardedmetal post on the sports field near the picnic table, to be used as a dog hitching post. CCTV Cllr Peter Pagewas asked to look into adjusting the position of CCTV cameras at the sports field.A cherry picker would be required to allowthework to be carried out.

was smashed with a small pebble whilst parked in Spot Lane, Bearsted. A white Ford Fiesta, registration BK16***,

THE family of a promising young architect who died in an earthquake have used a Bearsted pub to boost his legacywork. MattCarapiet (23)was killedwhen amoun-
tainside collapsed on the Nepalese village of Langtang in 2015. He is pictured right. His mum Jill, dad Greg, and sister Christina
have since launchedatrust inhisname, raising funds tosupport the international charitywork hewas doing at the time of his death. On Thursday, September 12, Bearsted resi-
dents got baking and the parish’s businesses stumped up prizes to support a coffee and cake morning and raffle at The Oak on the Green public house inMatt’smemory. Christina says the event raised £227
through the coffee morning, £403 from the raffle and further £70 in direct donations. The money will be added to £9,000 raised through a 100-mile bike ride. Itwill be used to
