MAJOR TRANSFORMATION Bake for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign organised by major breast cancer charities to increase awareness and to raise funds for research. KitchenAid has been a partner

of Breast Cancer Haven for 19 years and is proud to have raised more than £280,000. For this year’s campaign £50 from every Raspberry Ice

Artisan 4.8l stand mixer (RRP £619) sold in the UK goes to the charity. When KitchenAid launched the stand mixer in 1919 it was only available in white. In 1955, Sunny Yellow, Island Green, Petal Pink and Satin Chrome were introduced. The brand’s joy of colour was an instant hit and it’s kept on giving ever since, including an eye-catching pink shade Raspberry Ice (left), the colour synonymous with breast cancer.

FOR SEAFRONT HOTEL The Royal Albion Hotel in the seaside town of Broadstairs is sporting a new look after a £270,000 transformation by Shepherd Neame. The 21-bedroom seafront hotel, which dates back to 1776, remained open while the five- week refurbishment project took place, aimed at bringing the bar, dining area and coffee lounge together into one streamlined space with a lighter, stylish and coastal feel. The drinks offer has also been refreshed, with an extensive range of beer and cider on draught and in bottle, along with a choice selection of premium wines and spirits, and cocktails. A new coffee station has been installed serving freshly ground coffee along with a full hot drinks menu and selection of cakes. The hotel’s popular food menu is still served every day, using ingredients sourced locally wherever possible, including fruit and vegetables from Maidstone’s RJ Kingsland & Son, seafood from Chapman’s of Sevenoaks, and meat from Joseph & Henry in Ramsgate. • Visit albionbroadstairs.co.uk
