LIVE 24-SEVEN -COMMENT

WELCOME TO L I V E 2 4 - S E V EN

MANAGING EDITOR Katie McPhilimey katie@live24-seven.com 07726 600 247

Whilst I was sitting at a beautifully decked-out dinner party, the conversation turned to new season fashion. The host, who shall remain anonymous, was looking forward to her buying expedition with her personal stylist. "I envy you Katie," she said (which I found extremely hard to believe, as I thought about her impending spending spree with a personal stylist), "You always look so fabulous at events." Oh, so she's just being sweet, or is it a distraction technique from the gorgeous dessert tray being passed around the table? She continued, "You go to so many events and you never panic about what you're going to wear, you slip into your dressing room, grab something and hey presto. I change at least eight times!" She followed this with laughter, that gorgeous giggle of hers I've come to be able to mimic perfectly. I responded, "Sweetie, there's an easy answer to your dilemma – don't have so much to choose from!" This had everyone around the table in fits of laughter! This leads me on nicely to this issue and the new season choices that filter through every section; isn't it great to have choices?

For this issue I chatted to Midge Ure, who is about to embark on a tour where his epic Vienna album will be played in full for the first time in umpteen years. We chatted about his many career highs, from his album that rang in a futuristic sound and transformed the music scene at the time of launch to being involved in Band Aid; I can honestly say he was a joy to chat to.

September means back to school, so it seems fitting to include an education feature in this issue alongside new season fashion, beauty, dining and interiors. For many of us September also marks the start of the countdown to, dare I say it…Christmas! If that thought turns your stomach, spare a thought for me! I was asked to a Christmas event in London...in June! The invite stated that there would be traditional festive dishes, Christmas trees and gift inspiration. Whilst I love festive fayre…June! Well let’s just say it's a little too early for me, as are Hallowe’en invites when I'm sitting poolside, breathing in!
