AUGUST 2019 THE RIDER /37 The Fire Horse Never quite believing the “dangerous”

label and desperate to resolve the situation, I fi- nally contacted Lauren for a one-on-one with my horse. I didn’t really believe anything would come of it until I heard, via Lauren, the first words out of my horse’s mouth. I could hardly believe what I was hearing,

nor could I fathom how one might guess such an accurate description of various events down to the most minute detail. The result of the session was that I took a new direction; focused on the horse’s description of what she experienced in the way of sudden and extreme pain and, with the help of my vet and my coach, eliminated the problem with

relatively simple changes to the horse’s manage- ment program. Years later we are accomplishing things to-

gether never dreamt of before the “accident”. Were it not for that auspicious morning with Lau- ren, the “end of the story” almost certainly would have been very different and very sad for both me and my horse.

My mission statement. Having developed and practiced my talent

for years, I speak for animals. I willingly provide a voice for the non-

human creatures of our world, in the hope that I may assist them to obtain greater health, better un- derstanding of their expected roles, and better re- lationships with their human partners. Through my classes and daily contacts, I

encourage others to develop closer bonds, appre- ciation and mutual trust with animals, and a re- spect for all life in this world.

Chapter 13 And then, that evening Late in the summer the strange horses came. We heard a distant tapping on the road, a deepen- ing drumming, it stopped, went on again. And at the corner changed to hollow thunder. We saw the heads Like a wild wave charging and were afraid We had sold our horses in our fathers’ time To buy new tractors. Now they were strange to us As fabulous steeds set on an ancient shield…… The Horses, Edwin Muir

“I took my dog last weekend to an All About

Animals Festival at our local SPCA (where we had adopted him from 3 years ago.) One of the features they had was a woman

named Lauren Bode Who is fairly well known here in

Canada. The proceeds were donated to the shelter and so I booked an appointment. My husband did not go with me because he had other obligations but he told me how much bs it all was before I went. My mom and a close friend came with me. WOW. We were blown away. The things this

lady knew! She had to either have actually commu- nicated with my dog or she has been stalking us for 3 years!”

Jean’s story It was Lauren who, years ago, saved me and

my horse from permanent separation: my horse from a future unknown; me from a future without my horse and riding in my life. Lauren’s remarkable gift steered me and my

horse to the happy place where we now reside to- gether.

Lauren’s gift included a detailed description

from my horse as to what happened and why things went so terribly wrong that day, when I ended up in the Emergency ward at the hospital. I had never met Lauren. Spoke to her only

long enough to book an appointment and didn’t tell her anything about myself and my horse —-least of all, that we had had an unusual accident causing me to quit riding. My horse had been labelled dangerous as a

result. No one would ride her and I gave up riding

for 8 months while I tried to find a suitable home for her.
