Flamboyant and gregarious, the term Hostess with the Mostess could have been coined for Philippa. Her house is a joy to be in, with contrasting colours and textures effortlessly thrown together to create a visual feast. Her innate sense of style is creative and unique, everywhere you look there is something interesting to see.
But it’s not a house of formality. Soft furnishings abound and comfort and texture is everywhere, inviting you to sit, breathe and enjoy your surroundings. Her furniture and accessories have been collected over years, creating an atmosphere that is as unique as it is inimitable. So, it is only natural that this extends into her newly renovated Airbnb cottage.
Philippa is a perpetual faffer, things in her home and garden are always moving and changing. She does this to satisfy her own creative urges but mostly she does it for the people in her house, whether it be her girls or her guests. Philippa’s interior driving force is to be hospitable, to welcome, to cocoon and to inspire.
Her cottage is a magical little self-contained property located in the grounds of Philippa’s Georgian townhouse in the heart of Hereford City.
Philippa says, ‘This cottage was born out of perseverance and great friendships. I’m a divorcee with 3 grown up girls and reality can be daunting when you are suddenly on your own. I convinced my ex-husband to believe in my dreams, and he helped me financially, but most of all I had a lot of help and love from the girls who run a fabulous interiors shop called Camperdown Lane. We go back a long way. They kept me going when I wanted to give up and they deserve a medal for putting up with me!’
