CATARACTS? YOU DON’T NEED TO WAIT UNTIL THEY’RE “RIPE….!”

While over 3,000 people undergo cataract surgery in Herefordshire every year, there may be as many as 10,000 in our area either suffering in silence, or not being referred for treatment. The demands on the NHS are seemingly limitless, but the resources are finite and as a result, clinical commissioning groups produce guidelines for referral for many conditions, including cataract. As a result - despite your visual symptoms - your GP and optician may not be able to refer you for NHS treatment.
