Should you bump into me over the next few weeks, please forgive me if I speak in a slightly southern accent, I'm smitten by Nashville after a recent visit and I keep falling into the southern drawl without warning! I used to do the same after a trip to Ireland when I was little!
The people happen to be the politest I've ever come across on my travels, the food is overly generous with wickedly good steaks, the incredible breadth of music fills the street Downtown and draws you in, the pace is slower and the fact that they go even more out of their way for an English accent ensured my time there in July was simply unforgettable. Ahead of my trip I was chatting with Midge Ure who told me I'd love it – he said it was the 'capital of music and the people make you feel most welcome' – he wasn't wrong! The fourth of July was simply awesome, akin to our New Year’s Eve celebrations, just with heat!

Talking of heat, the temperature was turned up recently as I visited St Tropez with Jaguar to test drive their new XF! It did help that the drop-dead gorgeous David Gandy was part of our intimate group; every inch the supermodel in the flesh, he knows how to party! The vehicle itself is a huge leap forward from the previous iteration, read my review in this issue.
I have to share with you a very funny story; I was at an event recently and a chap came up to me to introduce himself, he started on a great note with, 'I love your magazine, it's such a great read', and then proceeded to wax lyrical about finding his current house amongst our property pages and how he uses our dining guide and our wine writer’s advice for his private collections. By his watch and the property he said he bought (which I recall drooling over in the magazine), he appeared to have done well in life. I was enjoying our conversation until he said he enjoys reading the magazine so much he 'takes it into the loo with him'...he lost me at that point... Can never get my head around people reading anything sat on a
loo...eeeew!
