Arkansas QHA’s annual Memorial Day


Circuit and Stanford Happening was held May 24-27 in Tunica, MS. The Stanford Happening (S-H) classes were fun and paid good $ and prizes. Sidney Dunham won the fun Blind Horsemanship Challenge on Huntin For Rhythm, netting $800! Cher Blackwell and Romantic Rendevous won the S-H Level 1 NP-Western Pleasure, and Justin Adcock and She Rockz My World took home a trophy sad- dle for the S-H Level 1 Walk-Trot.


NavaRio Ranch Horse Summer Series


Show #2, held May 25 in Snook, opened with a performance by Brazos County Faith Riders. The largest class, with 17 entries, was Novice Ranch Riding, won by Suzanne Payne. Paula Huddleston won Halter Mares and Cari Cum- mings won Halter Geldings.


Oklahoma Stock Horse Association


hosted the Nuttin’ But Cutting Ranch Cutting and Clinic May 25 at Breakin’ Hearts Ranch, Gainesville, with 3 clinicians, Dick Pieper, Ann Hutchinson, and Clay West. Ranch cutting class winners were Hal O Mate (Open/Clay West/Leah Hochhalter), Dirty Dinero (NP/Amanda Romine), One Rey Or Another (LTD-NP/Randy Free), Hawk (Green- Horse/Anne Hutchinson), and Smart Merada (Novice/Leah Hochhalter/Kimberly Stansell).


Texas Palomino Exhibitors Associa-


tion’s annual Yellow Rose Classic, held May 25-27 in Athens, offered 4 judges and drew good-sized classes. For info on the up- coming Fall Fiesta, scheduled for Septem- ber 14-15 at the same venue, go to tpea.net.


Lonestar Buckskin Horse Association


is a newly formed charter club in Texas and of the American Buckskin Horse Registry, with a Facebook page and web page, www.lonestarbuckskin.com. It’s first show was combined with Texas Palomino Ex- hibitors Association’s Yellow Rose Classic May 25-27, and that continues to be the plan for the rest of 2019 shows.


The USTRC All-Star 12th Annual


Cavender’s Roping, held in Inola, OK, May 25-27, paid out $183.420. Open winners were Brandon Webb and Kollin Von Ahn with 33.49 on 5 head. fmi, ustrc.com/Results.


APHA’s iconic Paint Horse Statue, the


landmark that graced the front of the associ- ation’s headquarters on Meacham Boulevard in Fort Worth for almost 20 years, was moved for refurbishment at the end of May. It should be installed near the organization’s future home in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards later this summer, in preparation of APHA’s move to the Stockyards, which is expected to take place this fall.


The Texas Tech University system has


long sought a veterinary medical school, and recently the State Legislature earmarked more than $17 million to establish that. Though the university still needs approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinat- ing Board and from a third-party accreditor
