Summer Time is Sun Time
Now, it may not be
evident from the weather of late, but we are moving very quickly towards summer 2019. Summer is hopefully a time full of sunshine, which makes it the perfect time of year to get out as much as possible. For many people this isn’t as easy as just walking out of the front door with decreased ability with age, or injury or even for those with permanent disabilities getting out and enjoying the summer can be full of obstacles. Shopmobility aims to make life easier providing short-term day hire of manual wheelchairs and mobility scooters with some also having a power chair or two in their fleet. The idea behind
Shopmobility is to provide independence to the less able regardless of their disability status. Charges vary across the country dependent on how much funding a scheme is in receipt of. It is always worth a call to check charges and booking requirements before you travel. The National Federation of
Shopmobility has an A5 directory magazine, which lists all current members of the NFSUK. You can find out opening hours, services and contact information for each
scheme. The magazines are available at NFSUK member schemes. You can also purchase a directory at
www.nfsuk.org/directory for £4.99 +£1 p&p. All monies go to supporting Shopmobility schemes across the UK.
Shopmobility relies heavily on its volunteers, if you have a few hours to spare on a regular basis then contact your local scheme to see if you could help.
