BioBlitz Weekend of Nature 2019 Wimbledon Common 22-23 June There will be children’s activities on site plus tea and coffee at the Ranger’s office. Wimbledon Common Nature Club On the first Sunday of every month, Wimbledon Common Nature Club covers seasonal topics.


Bee Keeping – 7 July, 10am-12pm Put a bee hive together and make a beeswax candle to take home at this event run by local bee keeper Alison Pelikan.


Making Natural Paintbrushes – 4 August Learn to make natural paintbrushes from twigs and leaves.


Den building – 1 September Learn how to make mini dens for mini beasts. Meet at the Information Centre. Newcomers to arrive 10 minutes early to register. £2 per child.

Wetland Explorers London Wetland Centre 20 July – 1 September Pick up a trail map for wetland challenges including pond dipping, wild painting and raft building. www.wwt.org.uk


Wild Play Days YMCA Hawker Mon-Thurs during school holidays (excluding bank holiday) An outdoor experience for kids who love to get messy. Activities include den building, whittling, tree climbing and a camp fire. Ages 4-11 years old. Prices: £30/35 and £40 on trip days. ymcastpaulsgroup.org


Family Bat Walk 19 July, 8:15pm, 9 August, 8pm and 17 August, 7:45pm Take a walk around the park to look for bats. Learn about bats during a short talk and then borrow a bat detector to hear the calls and see if you can spot them fluttering above. The Great Big Tree Climb 24 July, 10am-5pm 21 August, 10am-5pm Experts will lead the session and show children and adults too on how to safely climb into the canopy. Individual sessions last up to one hour and tickets are £25 per person. Recommended for children aged 6+.
