PULSE Small Grants from Sports Directory UK

This year Kent Sport has teamed up with Sports Directory in order to provide a valuable funding stream that can be accessed by schools and academies.

The Sports Directory UK Small Grant Scheme is designed to encourage and increase participation in sport and physical activity within the Kent County Council or Medway Council administrative areas.

The Kent-based company is a leading provider of sports equipment and clothing, and has agreed to support the programme for three years. This will ensure that schools, clubs, local authorities or any organisation looking to deliver sport or physical activity can access crucial financial support. Grants between £50 and £500 can be awarded to help fund things such as coaching costs, facility hire, equipment, marketing, events and team kit.

We are currently coming towards the end of the first year of grants, with the deadline for the third round of applications being Saturday 1 June 2019. During this time Sports Directory have been to present cheques to a number of schools, including a £135 cheque for Swingate Primary School to provide new badminton rackets for students, and £250 to St George’s Primary School.

“We are thrilled to be working with Kent Sport and particularly supporting the small grants programme. We hope that our involvement will support more people to engage in an active and healthy lifestyle.”

Nick Fox, Sports Directory

Sports Directory’s commitment to supporting the programme will help Kent Sport towards achieving its vision for the county of ‘more people, more active, more often’. Sports Directory also run their own rewards scheme for schools, which further supports the delivery of PE and sport to students.

The ‘My School Rewards Programme’ is a scheme available to schools or academies, and once registered, allows schools to benefit from receiving 25% more to spend when they purchase sports equipment. It also offers access to exclusive competitions, product giveaways and other rewards and savings. As an example, if a school were to spend £1000 on sports

equipment, they would then receive a voucher worth £250 to spend on further equipment.

“Our scheme is obviously great for schools who want to see their budget or sports premium stretch further. Having 25% more to spend allows schools to purchase extra equipment, often allowing them to introduce new sports and games to students or make sure that the PE cupboard is fully stocked and up-to-date.

Scheme members also benefit from our regular competitions and giveaways, in the last year alone we

have provided schools with sporting events tickets, new equipment and even a visit from an England Netball player to deliver a coaching session to students”
