PULSE Kent School Games
What is the Kent School Games?
The Kent School Games is a multi-sport competition which aims to engage pupils aged 4-18 in sport and physical activity. The Games were created in 2008, as part of a Kent County Council legacy plan to inspire children and young people, off the back of The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This exciting opportunity is available to pupils in primary, secondary and SEND schools.
Current Statistics
Over the period of October 2018- March 2019 there have been 18 different Kent School Games events run. A large number of participants have attended these events from a total of 117 schools, including: 2255 secondary school pupils; 2087 primary school pupils; and 250 SEND pupils. We have also been lucky enough to have 81 volunteers helping us across all of these events, without whom none of this would be possible, so we
would like to thank them all for their hard work.
How can schools get involved?
At Kent Sport we want to engage as many schools as possible in the Kent School Games, ensuring that a wide range of pupils get the opportunity to experience appropriate competitive school sport, whilst also developing the Spirit of the Games values: teamwork; respect; self-belief; passion
and determination. 16 School Games Organisers work across the county to engage pupils in local events, with the chance to qualify for county and national finals. To find the contact for your local SGO please use the link provided below:

Tweets from participating schools
After attending the LD Cross Country Event, The Rowans Alternative Provision Academy tweeted: “Brilliant cross country event with Kent School Games. The Rowans AP pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves and brought a silver medal back”.
West Borough Primary School attended the Sports Hall Athletics event and following the event they tweeted “Today we met Lesley Owusu, GB Olympian, and took part in multi skills events at the Kent School Games. A great time was had by all!”
It is great to see such positive feedback and we will look to build on this in the future, in order to make a real difference to the children and young people across the county.
