INBUSINESS VIEWPOINT
It is with great pleasure that I can begin this Viewpoint by announcing our new Charity of the Year. We were honoured to receive presentations from a range of fantastic charities from our city and after much deliberation we can reveal that our chosen charity is YMCA Milton Keynes. Our team was incredibly impressed by their presentation on
the range of services and opportunities the charity provides to young, homeless people in MK. As Charity of the Year, YMCA Milton Keynes will receive
complimentary membership of the Chamber’s Business Alliance Group to enable it to network with the city’s most influential companies and can attend Chamber events for free. We look forward to seeing the charity at our events and to sharing how it is working with members during the year. I am also pleased to say that our Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) for Q1 2019 attracted a
high level of responses from the business community. Our response rate was up 17% on the previous quarter and the feedback we received came from businesses employing over 65,000 people. I would urge all members to take part in the next QES when it goes live on 20 May. It is your opportunity to influence the key decision makers responsible for local, regional and national economic strategies and policy. Your feedback enables us to give an accurate picture of the state of the borough’s economy and empowers us to lobby for the support you need on your behalf. I would like to thank all the individuals who have entered the inaugural Next Generation
Business Awards. The awards closed last month and it is great to see that we have had submissions from lots of worthy candidates with impressive skills. We will be contacting the shortlisted finalists soon. From the calibre of entries it is already apparent that we are in store for a fantastic awards ceremony on 5 July. But before that, don’t miss our first Business
Exhibition of the Year on 7 June – hope to see you there!
