Spring Clean It was agreed to hold a Tidy Up day to coincide with the Great British Spring Clean. The date was set for April 7. Cllr Carr would organise the work to be done and borrow some signs from Boxley Parish Council. Playground CllrMerrick had removed the log walk. Some additional work was required and CllrMerrick would organise this, once a date had been set for the installation of the zip wire. Cllr Merrick and Cllr Carr would organise the removal of the waste. CllrMerrick had filled the last goalpost hole and checked the rest of the equipment – there had been no deterioration over the winter. Village maintenance It was agreed to use the same contractor as last year for the tree survey. The contractor doing the grass cutting, footpath maintenance and weed killing was due to start. Allotments All plots were now taken. A fence dividing two plots had been partially removed. Extension plan A resident had contacted the parish council about a plan for a two- storey extension to a home in Fir Tree Grove. There were currently two windows overlooking a neighbouring property and that would increase to five. It was agreed to object on the grounds of loss of privacy.
Broomfield andKingswood
Parish officeMembers received further information on potential sites for a parish office and agreed three possible options. Cllr Darling was to progress the Scout hut option and Cllr Hoy would investigate land next to the village hall. Village survey In light of the information received on potential sites for the parish office, the survey was put on hold until a decision was taken by councillors.
Downswood
Crime report PCSO Turner reported that, following allegationsmade on Facebook, she had been “constantlymonitoring Foxden Drive play area and had not seen any youths”. There had been a burglary at a house in Rhodewood Close, and jewellery, computers and cash were stolen. CCTV updateAmeeting with NT Security had resolved the remote access problem. PCSO Turner viewed CCTV footage in relation to the Rhodewood Close burglary, but it was of no help on this occasion. The CCTV was used to identify a person who had dumped items at the bus stop. Hollingbourne
White post The clerk was to look into prices for replacing the wooden white post at the top of Hollingbourne Hill and would seek confirmation of the KCC fund to be made towards the cost. Lengsthman The proposal of hiring a lengsthman would be considered at the parish assembly. CllrMarshall suggested that a resident could adopt an area of the village near their home and take care of it. Problems could then be recognised and reported quickly. Risk assessements would need to be put in place for a lengsthman. Streetlight The parish council has insurance for the streetlight outside the Fernham Homes area and repairs to the item would be processed by the clerk. The cost of removing the light as an emergency, £82.50, would be passed on to the insurance company. Dog fouling The clerk was getting a quotation to re-erect the ‘no dog fouling’ sign near the entrance of theMillennium Green. Police report A vehicle had been damaged near theM20. PCSO Glenn asked the public to be vigilant for hare- coursing and trespass using 4x4 vehicles. Such vehicles seen overnight with two or more occupants, or vehicles that seemed suspicious should be reported to him
