Retired vicar dies after falling down the stairs


TRIBUTES have been paid to a much-lovedformer vicarwhohas died after a fall at his home. Rev SteveHughesMBE(67) only


retired as the rural dean for Leeds, Langley, Otham and Broomfield last summer. He had moved to north Wales with wife, Mandy, who had started a new NHS job there. Rev Hughes fell downstairs at


his home and died of his injuries not long after, on February 15.,Canon John Corbyn, rector at Holy Cross in Bearsted, said: “He was an affable and friendly man andmuch loved by themany peo- plewho knewhim. “He had little time to enjoy his


retirement, which is a terrible shame. But I understand he did spend time with his family over Christmas.” It is understood RevHughes fell
