MMK ships record volume of galvanized steel in 2018
M
agnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) shipped 1,269 million
tonnes of galvanized steel in 2018, the highest figure in the Company’s history. This result is 11.9 per cent
higher than the previous record of 1,134 million tonnes
of galvanized steel set by the Company in 2017. Over the past 15 years MMK
has been consistently increasing the production of galvanized steel. In 2002 and 2008, the Company commissioned two high-performance continuous hot-dip galvanizing lines at its metal-coating shop. In 2012,
MMK commissioned the second stage of a cold-rolling unit at sheet-rolling shop 11, comprising a continuous hot-dip galvanizing line, as well as a combined continuous annealing and hot-dip galvanizing aggregate. In July 2017, MMK put into operation the No.3 unit for continuous hot-dip galvanizing with a capacity of
360,000 tonnes per year. Development of coated metal production is in line with MMK’s goal to increase output of high value-added advanced processed products.

expand to meet the growing customer base we have. Along with this relocation, we are
adding personnel and additional equipment. It is our on-going goal to better service our customers with better lead-times and innovative products. Clark Fixture Technologies establishment of a facility in México goes back almost 14 years. That decision came out of the business we had been doing there for about 20 years. We wanted to show our commitment to our customers by providing in-country manufacturing and service.

Meinerzhagen, manufactures high- quality forged pieces, extruded products and rolled rings for the aerospace, automotive, construction and industrial technology industries worldwide. The products made of aluminum, magnesium, titanium and nickel alloys are used wherever safety, weight, reliability and durability are important. This is why the company, which was founded in 1910, attaches great importance to the highest quality in its production lines – such as the 30.000 ton closed- die forging press that Otto Fuchs ordered from Schuler. The MH-30000 hydraulic system is supplied with press mechanics,

adaptation of water hydraulics, transport, full assembly and CE certification. The custom-made products will include aircraft landing gear, engine discs and structural parts. Start of production of the system is scheduled for January 2021. Hydraulic forging presses are particularly suitable in places where high forces and long working distances are required: their unlimited work energy allows the maximum force over the entire stroke. The infinite adjustment of the working strokes permits optimum adaptation of the press cycle to the forming process; large slide strokes for long components provide an expanded range of possible products. And the adaptation of the forming speed to the process produces superior workpiece quality and long die service life.
