Round FSM Up FA changing room regulations: Aylesbury to be relegated over undersized area

Non-league Aylesbury FC say relegation is “unavoidable” as they cannot make their changing rooms bigger in time to meet new FA regulations. The new requirements demand that

changing rooms need to be a minimum of 12 square metres in the seventh and eighth tiers of league football, but that will increase to 18 square metres by 31 March. Clubs that fail to complete the work by the end of July will be relegated. Aylesbury FC have stated that, “The

club unfortunately very soon realised that the deadline was simply not achievable... Although all the people involved with the club are obviously devastated by this situation, we are even more committed now to ensuring the future of Aylesbury FC, taking a step backwards to once again move forward.” Aylesbury, who reside in the

Southern League Division One Central, said that while their home and away changing rooms are “very close” to the minimum requirements, their room for match officials would need “major reconstruction” to meet the requirement of six square metres. The FA wrote to a number of non-

league clubs on the issue in October but say notice of the change was

given in 2014, and clubs can apply for up to 70% of the funding for any work through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund.

Clubs must deliver planning permission, if

required, proof of funding and a completed, enforceable contract to both the FA and their league by the end of March. “The change was to accommodate

increased squad sizes, more medical equipment and an improved environment for players,” the FA said.

Fans will be able to log on as they take in the action at the Cooper Associates County Ground next season

Somerset County Cricket Club has been working to install wifi at the ground which will be available to fans for the start of the 2019 season. Bristol-based firm ITEC is behind the work,

which will not only boost fans' connectivity, but also improve the club offers on non- matchdays, with businesses, organisations and individuals able to take advantage of the new service when using the ground for conferences, meetings and presentations. Somerset CCC strategy director, Sarah

Trunks, said: “Ground-wide wifi has been on our agenda for some time and it’s the next logical step to take when considering the matchday experience and additional value for our members and supporters. “With the ICC Cricket World Cup

coming to Taunton alongside the installation of the new floodlights, now is the perfect opportunity to further our digital vision, and thanks must go to all those who have been involved in the process thus far.

“We are delighted to further our

relationship with ITEC, who have previously supplied the club’s printers. Nick Parsons, account director from ITEC,

said: “SCCC have a clear digital strategy and are embracing market-leading technology to achieve their goals. "We at ITEC are excited and proud to

deliver the technology based 100% around their requirements, and provide full service to ensure the project’s success.

“The new wifi solution will put SCCC at

the forefront of mobility technology, making them one of the most advanced stadiums in the UK. "It will provide additional revenue

generation tools and seamless wireless mobility to their visitors, allowing access to exclusive social media content, replays, rewards and promotions, enhancing the experience at the ground in unprecedented ways.”
