(who can learn a lot at our wide range of clinics, before trying their luck in our friendly shows) to advanced competitors who take part in area qualifier teams for dressage, show jumping and eventing. The club is long established; it was started back in 1971 at Church Farm, Tong. We have had teams competing successfully at top venues including Blenheim Riding Club eventer challenge and Bolesworth Castle show jumping. Our dressage divas have been placed at British Riding Clubs’ national championships. The more energetic members among us have also had great fun taking part in the BHS adult mounted games teams too.
O
Individually, our members have been successful with their horses qualifying for and being placed at HOYS Search for a Star and the Olympia Senior Showing Series Championships. We have run a camp for several years now at Lincomb Equestrian, where we can take advantage of their

wonderful facilities for dressage, show jumping and cross country training, as well as a different horse-related demonstration or talk every year. On a lighter note, we have also enjoyed a couple of beach holidays with the ponies, hired Wolverhampton Racecourse for a canter round, organised fun rides for small groups, had Christmas fun days and tried our hand at carriage driving.
During the summer months, we hold monthly open shows where members and non-members can compete in dressage, show jumping and ridden and in-hand showing. We also have fun classes in fancy dress, pairs jumping and doggy dressage. This year we will be moving to a new showground at Church Farm, Tong where the riding club originated. This will allow us to run dressage on a surface and have show jumping and showing classes on grass.
Non-riding social occasions we have held include barn dances, treasure hunts, quizzes, tack sales, talks from vets as well as

an annual AGM with a buffet and disco. We regularly hold social evenings with talks on horse related subjects. The club runs events such as Chinese auctions and fun classes at shows to support local charities including RDA and Midlands Air Ambulance.
Our current trainers are Ticky Fletcher, BHS stage 3 coach, Jonathan Rogers, BHS UKCC level 3 and BE coach, Hannah Jackson BHS intermediate instructor and UKCC level 3 coach, Patsy Pyke, BHS intermediate instructor
and UKCC level 3 coach and Judi Kemp.
We have non-riding members and always welcome people who are willing to come along help out and be involved in our activities. As a club we aim to create an enjoyable and educational riding environment for all our members. Our shows offer an encouraging environment for competitors to show off their skills and more importantly have a fun day out with their horse or pony and support crews.
Helping to secure riding routes in Derbyshire Supplied by Erewash Riders Association
Group centered within the district of Erewash, Derbyshire. It was established in 1985 with the aim of preserving and creating new bridleways and multi-user routes.
E
The group is run solely by volunteers. We currently have 18 committee members who all undertake different roles. We hold monthly committee meetings to discuss ongoing bridleway matters and we work alongside Derbyshire County Council and local Landowners to ensure that our bridleways are well maintained. We use our funds to hire contractors to complete maintenance work and to pay for the financial costs of reinstating or upgrading a bridleway.
rewash Riders Association is a BHS Affiliated Equestrian Access
We will often collaborate with BHS Derbyshire to share information regarding access routes. We also hold two joint rides per year to raise money for both groups. Our main way of raising funds is by holding monthly pleasure rides from May through to October. We also have membership which anyone can join which only costs £2.00 per year. For that price members will receive four newsletters per year, as well as invitations to our pleasure rides and Annual Dinner. It is more important than ever that groups like ours exist. In the year 2026, any bridleways that are not officially recorded on the definitive map will be extinguished forever.
