Success for Walsall at Society of Master Saddlers’ National Competition

Based at Vale Brothers in Walsall, Colin took home the Bruce Emtage Memorial Plate for Best in Show, after winning the open saddle class when making a dressage saddle.
Held at the Saddlers’ Hall in London and supported by The Worshipful Company of Saddlers, the event continues to be hugely popular promoting expertise and craftsmanship in the saddlery industry.
“I am delighted to win not only the class but then also to take best in show for the dressage saddle is just the icing on the cake.

“I have worked in the industry for more than 30 years so tonight really means a lot having started as an apprentice when I was 16 years old this is just the pinnacle,” said Colin.
Walsall based Master Saddle Makers, Frank Baines Saddlery also captured a top award at this year’s event.
Frank Baines Saddlery won the Trade Saddle Class, entering a jumping saddle to claim the prestigious award.
Said Simon Woolley who worked on the saddle: “I have worked for the Frank Baines team for more than 27 years and it makes everyone very proud to win and also take home the trophy. We have not entered for more than 20 years so to come back and win is just brilliant.”

horesby Hall has kindly agreed to host MC’s Club Championships
in September as well as a regular two-day event in May. In addition, MC is delighted to announce that Frickley Park in South Yorkshire will be the venue for competition in July. MC Chairman Dave West said: “Frickley Park, which is a lovely country estate, is more in North East Driving Trials’ area than ours, so I am very pleased that the North East Chairman, Barry Hilditch, is happy for us to hold a competition ‘over the border’. It shows how British Carriagedriving’s affiliated clubs can work together for the betterment of the sport and to benefit competitors.” MC now has a full season of events booked, all are two-day excepting Anslow, near Tutbury (20th and 21st April) which is
New members’ upgrade at Bolesworth International

his year’s Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show takes place in the stunning grounds of Bolesworth Castle near Tattenhall, Cheshire from June 12th to June 16th and the new members’ package includes an area within Club Boles with fantastic facilities and ringside seating and viewing.
