COVER STORY

speak one-on-one and in groups with fellow ASC professionals. On the eve- ning of Friday, May 17, attendees will party the night away on Honky Tonk Highway. Enjoy live music, authentic southern cuisine and line dancing. Take full advantage of networking

at ASCA, Mosqueda says, for it can open new professional doors. “I person- ally have networked with many lead- ers at past ASCA conferences. These experiences have led to opportunities such as participating with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality as a consultant, becoming an Accredita- tion Association for Ambulatory Health Care surveyor and speaking at local and national events.”

There is More Visit what will be one of the largest ASC-specific exhibit halls of the year to learn about many of the products and services that can help elevate your ASC’s operational, clinical and finan- cial performances. Vendors will gladly show you demonstrations and answer your questions. You might even leave Nashville with some terrific new tools in your arsenal. Make sure you do not miss either of the featured speakers: Alex Sheen, founder of the international social movement because I said I would, will lead the opening session on Wednes- day, May 15, from 5:15–6:30 pm, and Scott Hamilton, Olympic gold medal- winning figure skater, will present the keynote session on Thursday, May 16, from 8:00–9:00 am (learn more about Sheen and Hamilton on page 11). “I am particularly excited for the opening session,” Lambert says. “Alex Sheen is a personal hero and I really love the mission of his organization. I think you will find his talk inspiring and empowering.”

Join Us at ASCA 2019 for the State Leaders Conference BY ALI LEGROS-MURPHY

The ASCA State Affairs Committee hosts a State Leaders Conference each year. This year, this free event will be held Wednesday, May 15, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET, in conjunction with the ASCA 2019 Conference & Expo in Nashville, Tennessee.

With growing participation, the Stale Leaders Conference has become the signature event for networking and learning about state advocacy. State as- sociation leaders, board members and members are encouraged to attend. Participants will network with their peers in other states to share best prac- tices on membership recruitment, marketing, advocacy and strategic planning. Attendees will hear from experts on developing and maintaining association membership, advocacy and governance. They also will learn how to effectively advocate for ASCs at their state capitols.

Join your peers for lunch and an afternoon wine tasting while discussing hot legislative and regulatory topics from around the country.

Space is limited, so register today on the State Leaders Conference page on the ASCA website, ascassociation.formstack.com/forms/2019stateleadersconference.

For questions regarding the conference, contact Ali Legros-Murphy at alegros@ ascassociation.org or 703.636.0622.
