Welcome to the first 2019 issue of CPD Specifier, the magazine for DCE delegates. 2019 could be a challenge!


No-one knows what the eventual outcome of BREXIT will be nor what impact there will be on our daily business.


My philosophy will be to carry on staging DCE events as often as possible and keep on spreading the TECHNICAL message all across the UK, regardless!


The 2019 tour is starting to look very good with a whole host of new and fresh seminar topics added to the listings.


2019 will see DCE stage another 80+ different events and, this year, we have reached out and found some brand new locations which have never previously hosted DCE events in all our 32 years of operating! These are in Godalming, Bridgwater, Kings Lynn and Kendal.


However, in order to accommodate the new locations we have had to drop events in some of the venues used for the past few years and we apologise to those attendees who might now have to travel further.


When planning the tour it would be very easy to just repeat the same venues with the same companies taking part - HOWEVER - we are constantly striving to deliver fresh seminar topics and, sometimes, the way to generate new presentations is to offer new venues.


Details on the next few months dates and locations are on pages 4 and 5 and we will obviously keep you in touch with regular mailings.


2019 will see the 30th anniversary of the Police Crime Prevention Initiative SECURED BY DESIGN and I am delighted to report that SBD will be celebrated and promoted at a number of DCE events. SECURED BY DESIGN officers will be at 11 different Specifying FIRE & SECURITY Solutions events with a Breakfast Workshop to explain and promote the benefits of specifying products and services which have achieved SBD approvals.

As ever, DCE events will be completely FREE of charge for delegates to attend with complimentary refreshments and CPD Attendance Certificates.


Our challenge in 2018 was to try and attract more of the new generation of SPECIFIERS who can tap into the exceptional knowledge and experience freely available at the Meet the EXPERTS events.


I can report that we have been quite successful and will continue to reach out to those ‘digitally friendly’ individuals in an effort to get them to attend!


As one first time delegate at Harrogate said: “It’s so much easier to take in when the information is presented and delivered so efficiently!”


So, 2019 will see DCE continue to disseminate technical knowledge and expertise all across the UK. This information helps us ALL to perform better professionally and produce better results.
