Time for celebration
In the short dark days of January, an afternoon spent in excellent company is a cause for celebration and the BIFA Freight Service Awards 2018 Luncheon ceremony on Thursday 17 January was just that, a celebration of all that is great in our industry. Robert Keen, BIFA Director General, welcomed
the 500+ guests to the 30th anniversary event saying: “The BIFA Freight Service awards are all about rewarding excellence and the luncheon is an excellent opportunity for Members and guests to network, cement existing relationships, and develop new ones.” Referring to event host Colonel Dame Kelly
Holmes, Robert went on to say: “All the companies that entered this year’s awards could have no finer example to follow than someone who struck Olympic gold twice in Athens in 2004. “A BIFA Freight Service award, like an Olympic

gold, is the ultimate reward for endeavour and professionalism and demonstrates high standards, determination and professionalism. Both represent the ultimate recognition of special achievement.” Prior to the announcement of the category
winners, guests were held enthralled by event host Dame Kelly’s speech detailing her background, army career and hard-fought-for Olympic success, finally coming at the age of 34. The winners in the 11 categories were as follows:
