ow many times have we heard someone say – “If only I can have that handsome guy next door, my life would be totally complete…. it would really make so happy.” Sounds familiar, right?

of this a hundred times and it makes me wonder – can a man (or woman) really make another human happy and make his/her life complete all of a sudden? Or perhaps a car, a vacation abroad, a fat bank account? Or maybe all of these? Presumably, any of these can make one feel ecstatic. I myself would be very happy if I can finally have my dream house. But as time slips by, I’m

Well, I myself have heard

beginning to doubt if getting what we want can really make us feel completely happy and fulfilled.

It came as a jolt to me when I realized that most of us are actually nurturing a lie in all the days of our lives. We’ve succumbed to the myth that happiness is something we achieve when everything in our life finally looks the way we’ve planned it – exciting relationships, enthralling vacations, well-paying job, house worth bragging about, stunning wardrobe, successful weight loss, large sums of money saved in the bank. Yet, these things on their own don’t create lasting happiness, so happiness

Believing in a lie

becomes this elusive thing that we desire but don’t know how to achieve. The truth is, happiness is not incidental. It means we don’t have to wait for everything to be perfect, nor do we have to control anything outside of ourselves in order to feel a certain way. It means we can choose happiness in this moment.

ambush” within ourselves that we will be happy as soon as everything in our lives is exactly the way we want it to be, and that to be happy, we must work harder to control external situations and make

There is this “mental Mind-trap

them “right” by hook or by crook. This mindset is actually a horrible trap. When we make things happen (lose the weight, get the relationship, get the raise) in a condition wherein we are needing them to fill us up, bear us out, or make us feel whole and complete, these changes won’t be sustainable. Allow me to share on here some practical ways of nurturing more happiness within you and create a life beyond your wildest dreams:

Hook up with yourself Decelerate a little bit and get quiet enough to listen to your “inner guide” and spend less time listening to other people’s opinions or to the loud, critical voice inside your own mind.

One of the best methods of cultivating the ability to hear your inner guiding system is meditation. However, if finding the time to sit quietly is not realistic at the moment, then make daily ordinary activities -- like riding on a bus or lining up at a grocery counter -- a time for quiet reflection. In these moments, ask for guidance and listen for some clear answers. When we flex our spiritual

muscle and connect to ourselves, it gives us access to an inner abundance of wisdom and knowledge and will guide us to our best actions.

Intend to be happy Despite what we may have been taught, happiness is as

Is it possible to be truly happy?

simple as just choosing to be happy. When we truly realize that happiness is a choice, we immediately empower ourselves in any situation. The moment we choose to perceive things differently by choosing a loving perception of ourselves, others, and our circumstances, we not only strengthen our capacity to feel happy, but also open up ourselves to never-ending possibilities where there once was none. A creative flow reveals itself, and we’re able to instantaneously experience more relief and less struggle. One of the simplest and most profound ways where we can align with loving perceptions each day is to practice setting an intention

The Negros Oriental Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) through the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has allocated P260,000 worth of financial assistance to four rebels who have surrendered in the municipalities of Mabinay and Zamboanguita. DILG Provincial Director Dennis Quiñones said

the rebel returnees were awarded the financial grants through the department’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). Quiñones said the former rebel beneficiaries were given immediate livelihood assistance worth P65,000 each to provide them with the necessary aid in their reintegration to the mainstream society where they belong. Part of the financial aid distributed includes immediate assistance, livelihood assistance, and firearm remunerations. The DILG official wished to attract more insurgents to surrender to the folds of the law this year. Expected to have bigger budget allocation, Quiñones

employees undergo a series of surprise and random drug tests all year round in support of the nationwide campaign against illegal drugs by the administration of President Duterte. Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, who took the lead by taking the first round of drug tests earlier under the supervision of the Department of Interior & Local Government and the Philippine National Police, reiterated his call for all those who engage in illegal drugs use to stop their vices. To cleanse the city government of drug abusers, all applicants are required to undergo drug tests and further unannounced tests once employed.
