Coxheath care agency is ‘well-led’ says CQC


A CARE agency in Coxheath has earned high praise fromthe Care Quality Commission. Inspectors praised staff for the


care offered to clients in their own homes, describing the agency as well led. The agency,whichprovides sup-


port for the elderly, disabled and thosewith learningdifficulties and dementia, received unanimous positive feedback about the quality of care and the support people re- ceived. People said they felt safe with the staff atHomecareUnique. One said: “I can’t fault them.


They arrive on time and are won- derful.We knowall of our staff and they know how to meet my needs.” Staffwere also interviewed,with


the inspection teamnoting that all recruitment and training practices were in order. Further trainingwas also given about the importance of treating people as individuals and promoting their rights.

staff said theywere in regular con- tact with the manager, who


worked as part of the care team and met each person at assess- ment. Clients’ premises were also checked for risks to ensure they had good access and entrance lights, aswell as clean food prepa- ration areas andmeasures in place for emergencies such as a fire. The report noted that people


were supportedto havemaximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible, in- cluding their chosen faith The inspector’s report said:


“Staff spoke highly of the regis- tered manager and the support they received in their role, describ- ing her as ‘really, reallyhelpful and supportive’; ‘everyone is treatedas an individual and there is respect for everyone’s opinions’." ManagerMrsModebolaTitilayo

News Seniors’ group


HEADCORNSeniors’ LunchClub is appealing to the elderly in its community not to sit at home alone in 2019. The retirement group meets


from 10am to 1.15pm every Wednesday at the village hall, starting again on January 9. Club staff are inviting anyone


who is retired and lives in the vil- lage, or has a relativewho does, to join them. Guests start with a cup of tea or coffee before the enter- tainment, often a guest speaker. Lunch costs £3, plus £1 for the
