Following another successful year with continued growth, Curve Workplaces, the Bracknell based office design and fit-out contractor, have recently recruited Mark Bradburn as a director. Bradburn is a well- known figure among the commercial property community in the Thames Valley and will oversee business development throughout the company.


Gateley plc, the legal business of law-led professional services group Gateley, has grown its commerce, technology and media team in Reading significantly over the past 18 months. Most recently, legal director Mary-Ann Orr joins from Blackstone Solicitors where she was head of commercial. Prior to this she was group compliance counsel at British American Tobacco plc. She now heads up the team’s specialist transaction support offering. This innovative sub- team has been set up to handle the commercial aspects of major transactions and projects both for the firm and for its clients with a service delivery model that offers a smarter solution than conventional ‘body shopping’ resource models.


Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has appointed Sarah Turgoose as a private client partner to strengthen its


Southampton tax team. Turgoose joins RSM from Deloitte, bringing over 16 years’ experience working with private clients providing wide ranging tax advice to entrepreneurs, their families, businesses and family trusts. Leading the Southampton private client team, Turgoose will specialise in providing tax advice to private business owners to help them meet their personal and business objectives including cash extraction, ownership restructuring and succession planning.

CBRE Southampton’s agency team is expanding with the appointment of Oliver Sherriff as a surveyor focusing predominantly on the sheds and industrial sector. A member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Sherriff graduated from University of Portsmouth with a BSc in Property Development and went on to join Portsmouth City Council, where he spent three years in its property department, including 18 months with the investment and development team.


Grant Thornton has welcomed a new partner, Karen Robb, to head up its VAT team in the south region. Robb joins from the London market, where she led the VAT, customs and indirect tax practice for the UK and EMEA. Robb has 22 years’ experience of assisting large corporate and multi- national businesses with their VAT and indirect taxes and in particular advising on tax issues arising as a consequence of cross border and global trade. She has also spent five years working as a VAT inspector for the UK tax authorities.


Mid-tier accountancy firm Haines Watts has strengthened its tax expertise with the arrival of Jay Doshi as associate tax director. Doshi is located at the High Wycombe office with a remit to deliver high-quality tax advisory. Doshi has valuable and extensive business acumen. He provides advice across a range of taxes including corporate, income and international taxes. He has significant experience of tax structures and planning on corporate transactions. He assists clients throughout the South East and supports a variety of ambitious business owners across the Thames Valley.


Chartered accountant and business adviser James Cowper Kreston has appointed Jeff Ruddell as the new senior VAT manager. Ruddell has worked in the VAT sector for over 30 years, amassing significant experience and technical knowledge. In his former managerial role at HMRC he specialised in VAT repayments, complex VAT issues, criminal and civil issues and has also been responsible for leading national training programs and projects in the field. In his new role at James Cowper Kreston, Ruddell will be responsible for providing VAT advisory services in relation to restructuring for Brexit, VAT cost reduction strategies, land and property transactions, VAT planning and mitigations. He will also be using his experience in assisting businesses on their dealings with HMRC.
