Savills has bolstered its residential development sales team in Reading with the appointment of associate director Alexa Peters

Peters will head up the department, which specialises in the sale of new homes and specialist consultancy.

Peters has joined the team from Savills headquarters in London, where she was head of residential development sales for south west London. She has worked for Savills for nearly 14 years and brings with her a wealth of experience in the sector, representing developments of all scales from boutique to large scale schemes involving plc developers.

The expansion of the team reflects its continued success in the thriving Reading new homes market. Savills launched the division in Reading in 2015 and has built a strong business in the area, supported by a busy multi-discipline office and trusted global network.

Peters commented: “Reading has become an important business and employment hub outside of the capital. Recognition for its commutability, culture, lifestyle and retail is driving large scale investment in mixed- use development, which will change its shape and dynamic in the coming years.

“Residential schemes are more sophisticated, including amenities such as a concierge, gyms, resident lounges and roof gardens, the likes of which were previously rare outside of London – a reflection of the new market.

The growth of smaller, co-working space is captured in office take-up figures for the city. JLL has seen a 20% decrease in take-up over 5,000 sq ft with 51,379 sq ft transacted in 2018, compared to 63,104 sq ft in 2017.
