Leading pipeline operators OMV, Saipem and Repsol to present at Pipeline Coating 2019
Pipeline Coating 2019 is organised by the leading plastics consultancy organisation AMI. The 11th edition will once again see global industry experts come together in Vienna on 13-14 February 2019 for this event.
T
he conference provides a unique networking opportunity and high- level forum for the
latest developments and issues in the ever-evolving steel pipeline coating industry.
Featuring a diverse programme of presentations by industry leaders, the focus for Pipeline Coating 2019 is on challenges and lessons on pipeline protection, innovative technology for new applications, overcoming issues associated with MIC, inspection, quality assurance and assessment of various advanced coatings. The conference will explore the use and benefits of high performance coatings in oil and gas as well as water distribution infrastructure.
End user perspectives: challenges and lessons on pipeline protection Italian oil and gas industry contractor Saipem opens with a keynote presentation looking at ways of achieving cost savings whilst maintaining quality of the pipeline coating. Pipeline operator Repsol follows up by presenting a casestudy on pragmatic approaches for pipeline material selection during concept design. Austria’s OMV Upstream will then present on the subject of wear and chemical resistance of internal OCTG coatingsfor use in sucker rod pump wells. ADNOC completes the session by contributing with a case studyon coating success, failure and lessons learnt.
Understanding innovative technology for new applications Delegates will also gain comprehensive insights into innovative technologies for new

coating applications. Expartech will share its expertise on polymeric mesh backed coating and interaction with cathodic protection and Denso will talk about effectiveness of cathodic protection under disbonded coatings. Canusa-CPSfollows up next to talk about bare field joints for subsea pipelines. Northpoint and Jotun Paints Europethen present on fluidised bed FBE application for challenging potable water pipeline components. Kansai Paint follow up with a presentation on pipeline flow performance: state-of-the- art simulation modelling. The Sherwin Williams Company then shares its views on what is hot in pipeline coatings: advances in performance of high operating temperature fusion bonded epoxy coatings. And finally, wrapping up the session, 3M will present on advances in flexible dual layer FBE technology.
Overcoming issues associated with MIC
The second day of Pipeline Coating 2019 begins with a cutting edge presentation from Nalco Champion,

featuring real life case studies on saving valuable assets from microbially induced corrosion.
Standards, specifications, inspection and certification for quality assurance Nederlandse Gasunie provides a detailed overview of the specifications, standards and testing for pipe coatings. GRTgaz will then present a case study on formalising a certification program for coating applicators, and is followed by industry expert Helen Boyd with a talk on preservation and inspection of insulation coating. The acknowledgement and assessment of paint inspector certificates will then be covered by
Paint-Inspector.Com and Shawcor Pipeline Performance concludes the session by presenting on recommendation for the preservation of coated pipelines.
An assessment of other advanced coatings
The last session of the conference starts off with a presentation from Borouge India featuring innovations in 3LPE coating followed by Trelleborg Offshore talking about on new generation of high performance rubber based coatings. This is followed by Sulzer Mixpac talking about cartridge based application of protective coatings. The last presentation is given by Schneider+Co on testing and new coating technologies with
