SHEET METAL

LS5 and LC5: not only sheet metal laser cut

B

LM GROUP, a market leader of the metal tube processing sector, shows with the

LS5 system to also have a long- lasting experience in the field of laser systems for sheet metal cutting. Modular configurations, high range functionality and exceptional performance are key characteristics of the LS5. To maximize throughput and expand capability, an automatic tube processing line can be integrated to the LS5 system to create LC5, a powerful combined system for tube and sheet metal laser cut. It is unlike any system on the market. The flexibility, compact layout, ease of use, diverse automation and next-generation technology distinguish the LS5 and LC5 as unique and unparalleled solutions in the world of the laser cutting systems.

Hannover, 23rd October 2018. LS5 and LC5 systems are compact to reduce floor space requirements and minimize installation times with the on-board integration of the electric and electronic part, ergonomic, with the wide- access work area for ease of use and maintenance, modular and versatile, with adaptable configurations, interconnected, with the ability to connect to other systems and communicate to process management systems in an Industry 4.0 environment.

Industry of the future The possibility of communicating with other production machines and the factory information system, the sophisticated process sensors that monitor different operations of the system, the state-of-the-art control software, link the LS5 and LC5 between the different technologies enabling the generational change that the world

is moving towards - Industry 4.0. The automations of the process and integration of the machine in the production system of the customer also go through the modularity which allows the system to grow with the production needs of the customer. From this point of view the LS5 and LC5 systems offer very interesting opportunities with material shuttling modules for loading and unloading, automated vertical storage lift systems for flat sheet and tube, which can also be integrated at a later time to expand the production capacities and the system’s degree of autonomy and automation.

Sheet metal

For sheet metal cutting, LS5 and LC5 are available in different versions, from 1500x1300 mm up to 2000x6000 mm with the possibility

of having longitudinal or transversal pallet change systems. For all versions a complete range of automation solutions are available, which includes systems for loading and unloading and/ or systems for pallet and towers storage. A unique and effective material handling configuration is when the pallet storage is on top of the pallet changer. This set-up offers a practically unlimited autonomy, but with the use of space of a simple loading and unloading system.

Tube To also guarantee maximum performance on tube cutting, LC5 chose to take advantage of the concepts which were already tested with success in BLM GROUP’s Lasertube family. The tube processing system is an

automatic system able to cut tubes in diameter up to 120 mm. Starting from a bundle, single tubes are automatically loaded, processed, and unloaded one after another as finished pieces.

The tube processing module is autonomous from the sheet metal processing module, only sharing the laser cutting head. It uses an independent operational panel to control the entire facility during tube processing. The achievement of an extremely simple

management of the system and the rapid transition to a subsequent process is achieved by using 2 control panels.

Combined systems

A laser system able to cut tube and sheet offers the opportunity to operate, with a single machine, in two different and distinct markets.
