POLICE Positive Action
Throughout the last couple of months of 2018 the local neighbourhood teams through the area have conducted positive action against drugs. By conducting ‘Misuse of Drugs Acts’ warrants at several addresses, officers have seized various class A drugs. Achieving good results such as this means that destructive substances have been taken off your streets and possibly prevented them from reaching young people, as well as others. Officers can achieve this by acting on intelligence, a lot of which does come from you, the public, so thank you. If you do have any information please either contact us or Crimestoppers. PS Mark Harper.
Warning to Barnstaple Cyclists There has been a significant spike in thefts of bicycles throughout the town centre of Barnstaple. Although the town centre is being targeted in general, the thefts are showing predominantly from the bike racks placed around the town, most significantly, those sited at Tuly Street, Boutport Street, Clock Tower, Litchdon Street and Barnstaple Bus Station. The bicycles that have been taken from these locations have been left for extended periods of time and therefore may be being noted by the suspect. Not all the bicycles that have been reported were secured. PC Wrey ”We would like to take this opportunity to ask people to check their bicycles are left securely. A number of the bicycles that have been reported stolen had been left in the same place for an extended period of time, including overnight. At this time we strongly suggest that people do not leave their bicycles in the town centre overnight, even if they have been secured”. Investigations, which includes viewing CCTV footage, are ongoing with Barnstaple Local Police Team. If you have any information please contact Police
101@dc.police.uk or Crime Stoppers 0800 555 111 quoting crime number CR/109958/18
