We have been given an opportunity by The Insight Magazine to introduce

ourselves to the people of Roundswell. We would like to explain who we are, how we came about, what we do and what we hope to achieve.

We are made up of a group of residents mainly from the area around

Meadowbrook and Cedar Grove. We originally came together following a meeting regarding the building of the

residential school that now occupies a site at the far western end of the

Roundswell Industrial estate. The plans for this school were proposed and

passed before anyone in Roundswell had a chance to pass an opinion on what effects it would have on our

community. A meeting was held to discuss the school, but it was held in Torrington.

We felt we needed to have a means by which we could keep ourselves informed about what was happening in our area and could intervene if necessary before things went too far.

We also felt that as the area was growing at such a rapid pace it would be a good idea if Roundswell were represented by our own Parish Council and not as we are now, under the

jurisdiction of Fremington Parish Council. Although we do now have a parish councillor that lives on Roundswell who has attended one of our meetings and has become a member of our group.

We are a non-profit making community group that are here for all the residents of Roundswell. You don’t have to be a home owner, if you live in the Roundswell area you are very welcome to join us, participate in any of our meetings or simply make your comments or feeling known on our website or Facebook pages.

We have no agenda other than to make our area a better place to live and to give a voice to the residents of Roundswell. With this in mind, we have recently been made aware of the newly

proposed 420 pupil School plus 30 Nursery places, that is being proposed for the northern end of Tews Lane at the far end of the Linden Homes Development. We anticipate that many residents maybe concerned about the potential increase of traffic in the vicinity of the new school and are therefore consulting with our local councillors to find out what proposals are being investigated to accommodate the pickup and drop off of children, and the extra parking that it will generate on the Mount Bray estate. Please keep an eye on our website and Facebook pages for further developments.

What else do we do?

Roundswell Residents Association works tirelessly to keep Roundswell looking its best. We regularly undertake litter picking sessions like the one near the Sainsbury's under pass which saw
