IIMS releases speaker programme for its Baltimore, US Conference on 18/19 January 2019 - join real time or online


James Renn, IIMS Regional Director, has assembled a wide variety of speakers for the two day Conference to be held on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 January 2019 at MITAGS-Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies, Baltimore. This event is open to IIMS members and non-members alike. Furthermore, more distant delegates are invited to join the Conference online via zoom and take an active part.


Entitled “New Products for Old Practices” this Conference gives delegates the opportunity to network with fellow surveyors and to chat with industry sector professionals and experts. Hear their views and question their ideas! Discover new thinking and extend your knowledge as a surveyor.


Day One - Friday 18th January 2019 0830


IIMS CEO Mike Schwarz gives an update, introduction and explanation of current and future IIMS and Joint Agency Programs.


0900-1000 Capt. John McDevitt, SAMS AMS, Performing Vessel Electrical Surveys. 1015-1115 Craig Norton, SAMS AMS, InspectX. Craig explains the tough book survey program with accented icons to speed and ensure survey content and accuracy.


1115-1215 Robert “Bob” Stefanowicz, SAMS AMS, Susquehanna Marine Surveys tackles vessel mold inspection, detection and mitigation.


1330-1430 Jeff Smith, Cool2sea and Clear2sea enclosure panels. 1430-1530 Andrew Tuhan MIIMS, SAMS AMS, Yacht Pro Solutions will be able to unlock many of those questions we have about the superyacht surveying sector.


1545-1615 Craig Stevens, Eco Blast of Maryland. Low-pressure high volume material removal using a powered recycled media-bottle glass.


1615-1645 James Renn Sr. FIIMS, SAMS AMS. Introduction to the resurrection of a nearly century-old super technology in the form of Fletner Rotors and Magnus Effect-Gustav Magnus and A. Fletner sail towers.


Day Two - Saturday 19th January 2019 0830-0900 Michael Richardson, Entratech Systems. Entratech will introduce its fully approved fuel water separator with alarm that informs the operator of a water peril before water can reach the engine. 0900-1000 Gary Lowell, SAMS AMS, Owner Lowell Boats. Wooden Boat Inspections. 1015-1115 Dylan Bailey, SAMS AMS, Owner of Dylan Baileys Yacht Service. Non Destructive Testing. 1115-1215 Kenneth Wienbrecht, SAMS AMS, Owner of Ocean Bay Marine Services Inc. “The Value of Our Services”. It may be that we as surveyors do ourselves a serious disservice in deeming to put a value on what we produce. How do we know what we are worth to our clients?


1330-1430 Ted Thies, President Eco Seal-Will. Ted will be reporting on the development and application of the next step in polymer coating protection against corrosion and marine growth fouling.


1430-1530 Nate Baugher, Maritime Applied Physics. The design, development and construction of 50’ Public Transportation Vessels-water taxis, for a specific harbor use.


1545-1645 Craig McBurney, Vet Real Property Development. Using vessel maintenance, service and refitting as springboards in Disabled Veterans rehabilitation and training in all vessel associated venues.
