BOOK HARVEST HELP A CHILD DISCOVER THE JOYS OF READING


Book Harvest provides books to children and engages families and communities to promote children’s lifelong literacy and academic success. Book Harvest has given away more than one million books! Tis organization offers a number of programs


including Book Babies. Book Babies provides 20 new, age-appropriate books to participating families each year from birth until kindergarten. Book Babies home visitors currently partner with the parents of more than 300 children in North Carolina. Literacy goals are established for the children and their progress is monitored to help ensure they start kindergarten ready to learn. RECYCLERY DONATE A BIKE TO SOMEONE IN NEED


ReCYCLEry volunteers have been helping children and adults repair, build and enjoy bicycles for more than 15 years. Please consider donat- ing a new or used bike to the ReCYCLEry. Tey also accept donations of helmets, pedals, seats, and brake pads. Email bikes@recyclery.org to schedule a drop-off time. In certain circumstances they can also pick up bikes. Financial donations are also welcomed.


n $10 donation could provide a child with a brand new helmet n $25 donation could supply two tires, cables and new brake pads n $100 donation could supply ten bicycle locks

FOOD BANK OF


Te Food Book of Central NC is asking our community to help reach the goal of providing 2.5 million meals to those in need. Your giſt will go even further this year as friends of the Food Bank have generously agreed to match donations, up to $77,000, now through December 31. In addition to providing food to those in need, the Food Bank has a Food and Nutrition


Services Outreach Program called the “Tree Squares for CENC.” Trough this effort, ded- icated Food Bank outreach coordinators provide application pre-screening and completion assistance to seniors, working families, dislocated workers, individuals living with a disability, people without a permanent address, and military families.
