Fire-rated Isolator Switches from Lewden
Lewden has developed a
range of fire-rated isolator switches said to be ideal for commercial and industrial facilities. These fire-rated isolator
switches have been manufactured using high quality aluminium alloy and they contain a highly-visible handle that has been patented by Palazzoli. The units are AC3-AC23A rated to guaran- tee safe operation, even with highly inductive loads and they also have customisable entry flanges. With an IP66/67/55 rating for use in the most arduous conditions, these robust fire-rated switches also have an impact standard of IK10. The switches conform to standards IEC/EN 60947-3, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 and EN 12101-3 and have an operating temperature of -25°C - +70°C.

Carlo Gavazzi launches the DEA71 and DEB71 Earth Leakage Monitoring Relays
Carlo Gavazzi has launched the DEA71 and DEB71 range of earth leakage monitoring relays, used to detect earth leakage current which can be potentially dangerous when undetected in electrical networks. These devices ensure the
protection of installations against fire and persons against electrocution, by interrupting the mains on a faulty load when used with a CTG core balance transformer. The setpoint on the DEA71
is factory set to 30mAor 300mA and it is not adjustable speeding up installation time, sets a reliable tripping level and protects against tampering whilst the DEB71 is fully adjustable and is available from 30mA to 5A or 300mA to 30A. Both devices are equipped with two changeover relay outputs providing the alarm signal and an additional warning output. One output triggers at 60% of setpoint value providing an early
warning to user, the other output is used to shut down the supply to prevent electrocution or fire. Each of the DEA71 and the
DEB71 have a supply voltage from 24 to 240Vac, local and remote test/reset function in case of tripping or for regular test and both can be used on three phase or single phase, which does not necessarily need to be earthed. The DEA71 and DEB71
can be the perfect solution for Building automation including industrial, commercial and residential, data centres, materials handling, water treatment, doors and entrance applications or anywhere where people could be at the risk of electrocution and equipment could be at risk of fire.

generator offers double the power and twice
the versatility for MPP applications
said to deliver ‘unrivalled versatility, optimised performance and excellent fuel economy in demanding Modular Power Plant (MPP) applications’. The QAC 1450 TwinPower is a 20 ft. ISO containerised unit

housing two compact 725 kVA generators; powered by V8 Scania engines with double bearing alternators. This configuration, with its fast-paralleling system, allows the two generators to work independently or in parallel with each other. Furthermore, the system is fully EU compliant. Sergio Salvador, Product Marketing Manager from the Atlas
Copco Power and Flow division commented: “From full load to low load, our TwinPower concept provides the same output, performance and efficiency as a single generator package, thereby achieving up to 10% in fuel savings.” He continued: “In essence, two generators, which are powered by
smaller engines, behave as one large one; while providing far more flexibility and contributing to a lower overall cost of ownership.” The QAC 1450 is equipped with a centralised control and
monitoring system that is both easy-to-use and configure. This is facilitated by two Qc4003 digital controllers that feature intuitive touchscreens, and a choice of island or PMS (Power Management System) modes. For enhanced flexibility, and so it can tackle larger jobs if required, the QAC 1450 can either run as a standalone unit, in parallel with other generators, or in parallel with mains power. Capable of operating continuously in challenging conditions,
Next-generation AVO800 Digital Multimeters built for field service technicians & contractors introduced by Megger
Megger has launched its new series of next-
Next-generation AVO800 Series Digital Multimeter from
generation AVO800 multimeters, designed to provide electrical contractors and field service technicians with best-in-class level of data & results validity as well as a comprehensive host of new and advanced product features. In line with the firm’s focus on creating easy-to-
use and safe portable test solutions, Megger’s two newly released units – the AVO830 and the AVO835 – combine the renowned build and performance of the historical AVO units with new, proprietary technologies. This includes tech like simultaneous AC&DC
voltage measurements, smart capacity discharge function and non-contact detection of live circuits and conductors. “We are excited to bring to market two state-of-
the-art product solutions to truly help our customers make vital decisions about their most important assets with peace of mind, which adds complementary value to our new AVO800 series and takes ‘theMegger way’ of testing to the next level once more,” comments Simon Wood, European Distribution Manager at Megger. As Megger remains devoted to safe working
conditions, the new AVO800 instruments feature the highest level of protection in the industry – CAT IV & CAT III 1000 V rating. In addition, a phase-sequence indication function
proves invaluable on three-phase systems, ensuring the correct run of operations without the needs of additional test leads or probes. For more information about these units and associated equipment, please visit:

30 SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER 2018 UK POwER NEwS
including high altitude environments, the containerised TwinPower generator system features an intelligent cooling system that ensures optimised performance at temperature up to 50 °C. Ease-of-service was a prime consideration during the design of
the TwinPower system, with large access doors and custom service tools helping to maximise uptime. The service requirement is less than two hours of maintenance for every 500 hours of operation. Furthermore, due to the twin power concept, it is possible to still benefit from 50% of the unit’s total capacity during maintenance operations. Developed with key customers in mind, and manufactured to
perform under the most demanding conditions within mining, construction, transport, oil and gas and utilities’ applications, the QAC1450 is designed to meet and exceed international approval specifications, including ISO8528, and is compliant with all current EU safety and environmental regulations. Atlas Copco’s TwinPower operating principle is based around the
concept of two generators, with two independent engines, inside one box. The QAC 1450 is the latest model to be launched and follows on from the successful TwinPower introduction in 2016.
