85 metre digital art unveiled at
Melbourne Airport
bourne Airport in Australia has unveiled a statement LED display from Silicon- Core Technology to the public, after completing an expansion to its Terminal 2 International Baggage Reclaim Hall. Deployed by EngieAV via John Holland Group for MelAir, the ‘Carousel’ proj- ect consists of over 85 meters of 2.5 mm pixel pitch SiliconCore LED panels, which run continuously around the air- port’s Terminal 2 baggage carousel. EngieAV also worked closely with Ar- chitects, Grimshaw, to ensure the deliv- ery of a baggage reclaim that focused on creating a memorable arrival expe- rience for long-haul passengers, while addressing the primary objective of ac- commodating the immediate demand of Terminal 2. Simon Gandy, Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation, comments;
“The new carousel is a necessary piece of infrastructure, which will enable the airport to process more international travellers, especially during the peak morning and evening periods. The reality is we are growing at a rapid rate, han- dling on average 96,000 travellers each day and we need to upgrade our assets across all areas of the airport in order to meet the demands of our passengers.”
Barco projectors revitalise planetarium
Barco has been chosen to provide six Bar- co F70 projectors for a supplement to the projection installation at the Zeiss-Plane- tarium Jena. First opened in 1926 and in operation ever since, the projection hall of the Zeiss-Planetarium in Jena, Germany, has an inner diameter of 23m and a seating capacity of 261.
As it enters a new era, the planetarium has committed to supplement its installa-
tions to allow it to remain current and present new content that will educate, entertain and mesmerize audiences on the over 800m2- dome. As part of this upgrade, the planetarium has just had five Barco F70-4K6 laser-phos- phor projectors installed, with a sixth projector installed in the middle of the projection hall. Barco F70 projectors were chosen for their overall image quality, their high level of detail and brightness, and for their ability to present
existing content and possible future content. This is because the superior presentation, changing expectations and different interests have opened the door to innovation and experi- mentation in the full-dome shows produced by the planetarium. The laser-phosphor illumination of the Bar- co F70 offers superior reliability, stability and performance over time. This was a major con- sideration for the Zeiss-Planetarium Jena; the
role of the planetarium has evolved and today, the planetarium needs to address a growing market by hosting events, conferences and corporate meetings, concerts, dinners, and even visits from astronauts. The up-time of the projector, combined with
the total cost of ownership, helped in deter- mining the Barco F70 projector’s win over other contending makes and models. The pre-sales service and support offered by VISIO GmbH,
who provided the equipment, and VST, the company that performed the integration work, as well as Barco themselves, has helped to assure the Zeiss Planetarium that they made the right choice. “We are very impressed with the perfor- mance of the products, and the level of tech- nical support and customer support that we have received,” explained Stefan Harnisch, Procurator from the Zeiss-Planetarium Jena.
The SiliconCore 2.5 mm dis- play offers a complete canvas of 33600 x 405 pixels at an impres- sive brightness of 1700 nits, and 160 degree vertical and horizon- tal viewing angles.
infiLED EM Screens ‘Light Up the Future’
iinfiLED EM has provided two fixed indoor displays for a video presentation wall at the prestigious TEDx Bath event. Hosted under the same name as the world-renowned TED organisation, TEDxBath runs a program of in- dependently organised local events that bring people together to share a TED-like experi- ence, where video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. infiLED EM answered a call for “help” to enhance the audience experience at the event, with the supply of two variants of its event in- door displays for TEDxBath, which were used by the wide array of speakers to present the video or presentation elements of their TED talks.
infiLED EM’s ER 4.8 mm and the Narrow Pixel Pitch, S Series 2.4 mm fixed indoor dis- plays made a vivid statement at the event. As one of infiLED’s flagship products, the lightweight ER series is very easy to set-up and dismantle, with magnets at the top and bottom of the cabinet for prelocking. The ER series has an accurate straight frame or curve frame option, with an easily adjustable angle coupler, allowing a concave or convex curve option.
The S Series panels are entirely modular, with a die cast aluminium frame offering a seamless visual appearance. Black SMD LED allows for high contrast and high grey level, while the high refresh rate even at low bright- ness offers accurate and vivid rendering that makes the S series a state-of-the- art, future- proofed indoor LED display.
“Our expanding product catalogue features a diverse selection of LED displays that pro- vide exceptional visual quality, helping events like TEDxBath to tell even more compelling stories,” said Ben DaCosta, Co-Founder & Managing Director of infiLED EM.
