Two new high brightness 4K Ultra HD projectors
Optoma has announced two new high brightness 4K Ultra HD professional installation projectors – the 4K550 and 4K550ST. The new models de- liver impressive 4K UHD imag- es at 5000 and 4500 lumens respectively
with the short
throw lens of the 4K550ST providing stunning image per- formance from as little as half a metre away.
Designed for meeting rooms, simulators and the corporate sector, as well as for CAD and architectural drawings where brighter, higher quality imagery and complex detail is needed, these projectors enable un- scaled 4K UHD imagery. Philip Watt, Commercial Product Manager at Optoma Europe, commented: “Optoma is the number-one selling 4K UHD projector brand world- wide. We’re excited to build on the success of our 4K UHD home projection range with the launch of our first 4K UHD pro- fessional installation models – the 4K550 and 4K550ST. “These new models bring the benefits of high brightness 4K Ultra HD and short throw to
any professional installation or business presentation. With four times the resolution of 1080p and true to life colour reproduction, these new mod- els offer maximum clarity when displaying text and graphics.” Featuring an advanced DLP single-chip design from Texas Instruments, 8.3 million pix- els are delivered to the screen without the alignment issues found in some other technolo- gies - ensuring absolute image integrity.
In addition to UHD 4K reso- lution, both models offer High Dynamic Range (HDR) com- patibility, and the HDR10 open standard specifically, which means everything from stream- ing 4K content to game con- soles is supported.
The 4K550 features a 1.6x zoom projection lens and both projectors feature vertical lens shift for a quick and accurate installation – without the need for costly interchangeable lens- es. RS232C and LAN connec- tivity enable simple integration and control via industry stan- dards, including Crestron, IP Link, AMX and PJ-Link.

Vision adds active inline boosters to HDMI+ Cables
Targeting the corporate AV in- stallation market, Vision has added two new HDMI cables to the range; 20 and 30m copper cables with active inline boost- ers. These will take the place of its optical HDMI cables in favour of more cost-effective copper units, capable of reli- ably delivering a 4K signal. Stuart Lockhart, Director, Vi- sion, explains:
“Whist there are now relative- ly stable 4K optical chipsets, we believe they do not current-

The new cables can deliver a 4K signal @ 30Hz. The booster circuit sits in a tubular enclo- sure to reduce snagging and use AWG 24 conductors. Vision sell over 10,000 ca- bles a month for professional integration. They have a proven reliability track record, offering a lifetime warranty. These ca- bles will ship from late October.
