RAIL travel in the Maidstone area was disrupted after atrain hit acar on alevel crossing. Police and paramedics went to
the scene and lines between Strood and Maidstone West were halted on October 2 . The train was on its way toMaidstoneWest. The train operator played down
the incident as a“road accident”. Southeastern Tweeted: “Due to a
road accident on a level crossing near Halling, service is part-sus- pended on theMedwayValley line. Buses have been ordered to operate both directions between Strood & MaidstoneWest.” The was closed for several hours
while the wreckage of the car was recovered and removed. No-one was injured.
Bridge death
AWOMAN of 1 8 from Maidstone died after falling from the M2 0 bridge at Larkfield on October 1 . The motorway was shut while
police and ambulance crews at- tended the scene at Lunsford Lane. She was named locally as
YazminaHoward. The incident happened at
1 0 .1 0 pm and the M2 0 was closed until 5 .3 0 am.
