Dogs Trust Ilfracombe are starting the celebrations early for a Very Important Pooch (VIP) in a bid to try and find her a home before her tenth birthday.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier Lara has spent two years with Dogs Trust after arriving in September 2016 through no fault of her own. Staff have thrown her an early birthday party as they’re hoping a new owner comes forward before her real birthday and adopts her.
Like any good party, the celebrations involved lots of fun, with Lara being the centre of attention with all of her friends at the rehoming centre She spent time with her favourite canine carers and she had some extra special treats. In return she gave out lots of licks and showed her appreciation by showing off the training she has learned such as giving paw.
Elise Watson, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, said: “We loved celebrating Lara’s tenth birthday. Admittedly it is a little early but we want her to find her forever home before then and didn’t want to miss celebrating with her. She’s such a special dog to us and has been here for a little while now so we’re really hoping a family will come forward so she can celebrate properly in a home of her own.
“She is a typical Staffy – friendly, affectionate and loves human company – so much so she finds it hard to be on her own for too long so she is looking for a family who are around for most of the day.
“She enjoys her home comforts and is looking for a home where she is the only dog so she can lap up all of the fuss on offer. She enjoys quiet rural walks where she can have a good old sniff and explore her surroundings without too much going on around her. She could live with older teenagers and needs patient and understanding adopters to give her all the love and attention that she needs.
“Lara is such a wonderful girl and a firm favourite here but we’d love for her to find a perfect home in her tenth year!”
