Christ.” Billy Joe’s relatively newer song “Wacko from Waco” takes a humorous look at the incident where he ended up shooting a guy in a bar. In 2004 Willie
Nelson Live at Billy Bob’s was released. It’s available as a DVD or as a CD with free bonus DVD! The Willie Nelson Family Band is red hot, dishing out 20 hits back to back, including “Whiskey River,” “Good Hearted Woman,”
“Funny How Time Slips Away,” “Crazy,” “The Night Life,” “Me & Paul,” “Blue Eyes Cryin in the Rain,” “Blue Skies,” “Angel Flyin too Close to the Ground,” and “On the Road Again.” Willie also treats the audience to some great covers including the instrumental “Under the Double Eagle,” Kristofferson’s “Help Me Make it Through the Night” and “Me and Bobby McGee,” Haggard’s “Workin Man’s Blues” and the classic “Georgia On My Mind.” It’s an outstanding show both on DVD and CD.
Also in 2004, Smith issued T. Gra-
ham Brown’s live set, with the country hit maker delivering his best work including “I Tell it Like it Used to Be,” “Wine Into Water,” “Hell and High Water,” and “Darlene,” and TG turns in a great version of Donnie Fritts’ “Memphis Women and Fried Chicken.” Time jumping to 2017, Shooter Jen-
nings was captured live in another outstand- ing show that includes live rockin’ versions of his “Electric Rodeo,” “Steady at the Wheel,” “4th of July,” and many more - 18 songs total from Waylon’s son. With so many great concerts available
and many more to come, I must recommend that you check out Smith Music Group and when in Texas, by all means visit Billy Bob’s Texas! -Michael Buffalo Smith
The US Festival (MVD) Back in 1982, Apple
co-founder Steve Woz- niak decided to stage the biggest all-star rock con- cert ever and do it right. Woz spared no expense, and a spent millions just to turn a piece of land
into a beautiful natural amphitheater. From the outset, Steve was dropping money left and right to make the show the biggest and best and it worked, and he brought in the undisputed king of concert promoters, Bill Graham to help make it all run smoothly. Not only was the venue perfect, but the
cross-section of popular bands covered every- thing in the current rock and roll lexicon at the time. This Blu Ray disc is packed with in- terviews and rare performances that tell the story of the US Festival. The B-52’s braved the 100 degree heat
to bring one of the best sets of day one to the stage, entertaining the “ocean of people.” Crowd estimates ranged from 250,000 to over 300,000. The Athens, Georgia band is featured in a full performance of “Strobe Light.”
Also representing the new wave and
punk scene were New York’s finest, the Ra- mones, along with Gang of Four and Talking Heads. The Police closed out day one with an intense set. The 3-day festival rocked with Dave
Edmunds, Pat Benatar, Eddie Money, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Santana, the Cars, the Grateful Dead, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Buffett and more including a stellar festival closing show from Fleetwood Mac. This documentary is highly entertain-
ing and educational, and just plain fun. Now I just want all of the performances on DVD! Good times!
